Future Proof Works is the intellectual home for a body of work about relationships, continuity, orientation, provenance, and how understanding survives change.

Purpose

To discover and build the patterns that help understanding survive change.

Future Proof Works studies how complex systems preserve understanding as people, technology, institutions, and time change.

The studio works across software, publications, research, and hardware because the medium is secondary to the question.

What should survive when everything else changes?

Orientation

Help people and machines understand where they are.

Future Proof Works builds systems that help people and machines orient themselves. Through software, publications, physical computing, and long-term research, the studio explores how context survives change so that better decisions can be made in the present.

The goal is not simply to preserve information. It is to help people understand where they are, what has changed, and how to move forward.

Stuff that helps me figure out how to be in the place where I am.

Continuity preserves context. Orientation turns that context into understanding.

Mission

Make understanding durable enough to continue.

The studio turns systems questions into investigations, models, experiments, and public artifacts that other people and future iterations can inspect, challenge, and carry forward.

Future Proof Works does not try to stop change. It designs for change without accepting unnecessary forgetting.

Methodology

Question. Investigate. Experiment. Publish.

Every investigation follows the same loop: find a question worth carrying forward, learn enough to form a model, build something that tests the model, and publish what was learned so the work can continue.

Publication may be a software release, an essay, a book, a monitoring issue, a repository, or a technical report. Format is metadata. Preserved understanding is the work.

Philosophy

Change is inevitable. Forgetting is not.

Understanding should be able to move across people, tools, sessions, organizations, and time without being forced to start over.

History should remain inspectable. Provenance belongs inside the system. New understanding should supersede earlier understanding without erasing the record that produced it.

Physical computing

Not every computer should look or behave like a computer.

Understanding does not only happen on screens. A clock, a light, an e-ink display, or a quiet object on a shelf can orient a person just as effectively as software.

These projects investigate technology that belongs in an environment rather than competing for attention: useful, glanceable, calm, and complete enough to leave the workshop.

Systems thinker, analyst, writer, and builder.

Lisa Fremlin Weiss spent much of her career translating between business and technical worlds. That work developed a way of seeing: finding the underlying structure and relationships shared by problems that appear unrelated on the surface.

Her projects span AI continuity, publishing systems, relationship-aware news, prediction markets, institutional monitoring, and ambient hardware. Future Proof Works is where those investigations become one body of work.
